My trusty pit lane setup - 600mm focal length lets me isolate just about any detail. The 300 mm lens with
doubler works a lot better than the huge, heavy 600f4.0, because I don't need a monopod for it, and it
can focus at just 10 feet. Even that is sometimes too far, and I find myself backing up through
the crowd on the qualifying grid (where this photo was taken). I am using E6 film more frequently now -
mostly because of the more extreme contrast it provides, allowing for an image like the one above
