Real Sport” as the CART FedEx Championship Series gears up this morning on California Speedway's 2.029-mile superspeedway with its traditional warm-up session from 9–9:30 a.m., followed by the 12:30 p.m. PT start of The 500 Presented by Toyota.

• CART FedEx Championship Series Starter Jim Swintal displays the GREEN FLAG at 9 a.m. to open the 30-minute warm-up session for the Champ Cars. Conditions are perfect this morning in sunny California as Champ Cars roll off pit lane.

• At 9:11 a.m., #5 TAKAGI fastest early on at 32.271 seconds (228.493 mph), followed by #26 TRACY at 32.445 seconds (225.132 mph), #1 DA MATTA at 32.559 seconds (224.343 mph) and #27 FRANCHITTI at 32.579 seconds (224.206 mph).

• YELLOW FLAG at 9:19 a.m. for debris. The Simple Green CART Safety Team on course for track inspection.

• GREEN FLAG at 9:21 a.m. The top five are currently #10 KANAAN, #9 JOURDAIN, #5 TAKAGI, #27 FRANCHITTI and #26 TRACY.

• CHECKERED FLAG on the session. #10 KANAAN of Mo Nunn Racing proves to be fastest again and paces the warm up session with an orbit of 32.180 seconds (226.986 mph) on his seventh lap, followed by #9 JOURDAIN of Team Rahal at 32.221 seconds ( 226.697 mph) and #5 TAKAGI of Walker Racing at 32.250 seconds (226.493 mph). #26 TRACY of Team KOOL Green ran the most laps in the warm up with 20.
